TUCSON, Ariz. - It was another great day of softball for Judson University in Arizona as they won their fourth and fifth straight games before falling in a close game to #14 Madonna, 12-11. Judson took the first game of the day over Bellevue, who is receiving votes in the NAIA National Poll, 13-8, and then pulled off a 2-1 win over Minot State. Judson is now 5-1 on the year.

Judson 13, Bellevue 5

Nicole Dimiceli went off at the plate going 4-of-5 with six RBI and four runs scored. All four of her hits were doubles. Lizzy Jacobson followed by going 3-of-4 with three RBI.

Judson took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Jacobson singled home Dimiceli. Bellevue then tied the game at one in the bottom of the second before Judson scored three in the third for a 4-1 lead. Dimiceli brought in her first two RBI with a double that scored both Carrie Sensor and Kristin Krueger. Jacboson then brought home Dimiceli for the second time in three innings to put Judson up 4-1.

Bellevue came within one, 4-3, in the bottom of the third but once again Judson erupted for four runs in the top of the fourth. Concetta Lampugnano reached base on an error that scored Gladen and then two batters later Dimiceli had her third double of the day that brought in the second and third runs of the inning. Again, Jacobson singled in Dimiceli for the third time of the game to make it 8-3. Bellevue did add two runs in the bottom of the inning to come within three, 8-5.

Lampugnano brought in Judson's only run in the fifth inning for a four-run lead, 9-5. Judson then tagged up for four runs in the seventh to make it 13-5. Sensor had a RBI for the first run of the inning and then Dimiceli recorded her fifth and sixth RBI on her fourth double of the game. Hallie Niewold finished out the scoring for Judson with a single to right field to bring home Dimiceli.

Jacobson received the win pitching the final four innings of the game. She had four strikeouts and gave up one earned run on five hits. Haley Secor started the game and went three innings with two strikeouts, three earned runs, and five hits.

Judson 2, Minot State 1

Sarah Boyer went the distance for Judson giving up just one run and five hits with four strikeouts for the win. Judson won their fifth game in a row in three days.

Judson only had five hits as Lampugnano led the team with two. Picking up RBI were Carrie Sensor and Nicole Dimiceli. Both hits by Lampugnano were doubles.

Judson did all their scoring in the top of the fifth inning. With two outs, Sensor singled home Lampugnano to break the scoreless tie. Dimiceli followed that at-bat with a double to score Sensor for the two-run advantage.

Minot made the game interesting in the bottom of the seventh as they came within one. With one out, they scored their first run of the game. Boyer then preceded to strike out the following batter after the RBI hit and then had the final batter fly out to end the game.

Madonna 12, Judson 11

Judson's winning streak came to an end to #14 Madonna almost pulled off the upset. Judson scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to come within one, 12-11, after being down 12-5.

For the second game in a row, Dimiceli led Judson by going 4-of-5 at the plate with four RBI. Adding two hits were Sensor, Gladen, and Krueger. Krueger recorded three RBI while Lampugnano had two and Sensor and Danielle Curylo each had one RBI.

Madonna took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and then made it 5-0 in the third inning. Judson put their first run on the board in the bottom of the third. Judson then tied the game at five in the bottom of the fourth with four runs scored. Krueger collected her first triple of the year that brought in two runs and then scored on a passed ball for the third run. Dimiceli then recorded a RBI to tie the game up at five.

Madonna answered with four runs in the top of the fifth and three in the seventh to make it 12-5. Judson fought right back as Krueger, Lampugnano, Curylo, and Sensor each had a RBI. Dimiceli picked up two RBI on a single to put Judson within one. Judson's tank ran out of gas at that point as Judson finished the game on a strikeout losing by one run.
