Ariz. - In their first game in two days in Arizona due to the cool weather, the
Judson University softball team made the most of it with a 6-4 win over Iowa
Wesleyan. Concetta Lampugnano led Judson
with two RBI while Haley Secor had two hits.
Carrie
Sensor brought in Judson's first run in the third inning for a 1-0 lead. Her single to centerfield scored Kristin
Krueger from second base. Iowa Wesleyan
followed with two runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Judson then answered with one run innings in
the fourth and fifth innings for a 3-2 lead.
Secor tied the game up at two in the fourth on her first home run of the
year and then Nicole Dimiceli scored in the fifth on a wild pitch.
Iowa
Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the fifth at three only to see Judson
bring home two runs in the top of the sixth for a 5-3 advantage. Judson then made it 6-3 in the top of the
seventh before Iow Wesleyan added their fourth run in the bottom of the seventh.
Lampugnano
recorded her two RBI in one at-bat in the sixth with a single that scored
Alison Catlett and Secor. Hallie Niewold
collected the last RBI of the game with a single scoring Brittany Holm.
Niewold
pitched the final four innings of the game for the win giving up four hits and
two unearned runs with three strikeouts.
Lizzy Jacobson received the start and went three innings giving up two
earned runs, five hits, and recorded four strikeouts.
