Freshman Jessie Fortner (Elgin, Ill.) led Judson with nine kills while freshman Carly Campioni (Crystal Lake, Ill.) recorded 22 assists. Sophomore Debra Leganski (Elgin, Ill.) had 12 digs.
Judson led for most of game one until USF made a 4-0 run. Tied at 15 all, the Saints scored the next four points to take a 19-15 lead. JU came back to within one, 20-19, on a Fortner kill only to see USF score the next two points for a three-point lead, 22-19. JU battled back to come within one, again, 22-21, on a USF attack error but USF scored five straight points to take a 27-21 lead as they went onto a 30-24 win.
The Eagles could not find any rhythm in game two as they fell 30-14. USF took a 5-1 lead and never looked back.
Taking a 9-5 lead in game three, JU used their momentum to extend their lead to 14-10. USF took that momentum away as they scored five of the next six points to tie the game at 15. This was the turning point in the game as USF took nine of the next 12 points for a 24-18 lead. JU fought back to within five, twice, but could get no closer.
Judson will travel to Michigan for the Cornerstone Invitational on Friday and Saturday, October 5-6. They will face Davenport, Cornerstone, Aquinas, and Grace.
