ELGIN, Ill. - Continuing his rage of scoring, senior Ben Rayhorn one-upped his career-high from three days ago vs. Trinity International with 31 points against Purdue-North Central in the CCAC Tournament First Round win, 86-78. Rayhorn hit five three-pointers and was 11-of-18 from the floor to lead Judson.

For the third year in a row, Judson will be playing in the CCAC Tournament quarterfinal game with a rematch against Trinity Christian College. The Trolls put Judson out of the post season last year as they went on to claim the 2009 CCAC Tournament Championship.

Adding to Rayhorn's 31 points was Josh Edwards with 15 points, Jim Kuban with 14 points, and Josh Weber with 10 points.

With the game on the line in the second half, Rayhorn stepped up his game to ensure the win. With 11:33 left, Purdue-North Central tied the game at 57 and then took the lead just 40 seconds later on two free throws by JF Ndomb. From that point on (10:35 left), Rayhorn single handedly went on a 10-2 run over a minute and 15 seconds to put Judson up by eight, 67-59. Purdue-North Central came only within four points after that run.

Rayhorn started the run off with a jumper to tie the game at 59 (10:35) and then gave Judson back the lead with one of his five three-pointers for a three-point lead, 62-59. Just 25 seconds later he hit two free throws after being fouled on a defensive rebound and then at the 9:20 mark he made another three-pointer to cap off the Rayhorn 10-2 run.

Purdue-North Central was within four, 69-65, with 7:39 remaining but over the next four minutes Judson put together a 10-3 run for an 11-point lead, 79-68. Purdue-North Central couldn't recover with the time remaining in the game.

Judson had their largest lead in the first half of 12 points, 39-27, with 3:48 left in the half. Judson only gave up the lead once in the half, early on, 5-3. At the 9:45 mark, Purdue-North Central was within two, 23-21, but Judson slowly slipped away with a 16-6 run over six minutes for the 12-poitn advantage. Purdue-North Central was within six by the half, 43-37.

Judson finished shooting 51% from the floor, 30% from three-point range, and 54% from the stripe. Purdue-North Central shot 39% from the floor, 27% from beyond the arc, and 71% from the line. Judson blocked five shots and forced 14 turnovers. They also won the rebounding contest, 45-35.

Judson will now host Trinity Christian College at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25th, in the CCAC Tournament quarterfinal game. The winner receives the chance to play for the CCAC Tournament Championship.
