Trinity International 67, Judson 65 - Box

DEERFIELD, Ill. - Just as Judson University thought they could break their post season jinx to Trinity International by coming within two with 1:09 left in the game, neither team made a basket as the Trojans held onto a 67-65 victory in the first round of the CCAC Tournament for women's basketball. It is the third year in a row that Judson has exited the CCAC Tournament to Trinity International.

Judson was led by Crystal Goodall and Lindsey Jordan's 15 points while Alicia Rovertoni finished her career with 16 rebounds. Trinity International's Melanie Duplessis led all scorers with 21 points. Rovertoni ends her four-year career at Judson with 915 rebounds which puts her in second behind Elizabeth Oleferchik's 1,052.

With 1:09 left in the game, Kristi Siemers hit a three-pointer to put Judson within two, 67-65. Judson then missed two shots in the final minute that would have given Judson the lead or tied the game. Jordan put up a three-pointer with 43 seconds left and then Goodall missed a shot with four seconds left to send the game to overtime. Judson was down by as many as nine points in the second half.

Judson had two leads in the game at 38-37 and 41-40 with 14:14 left in the game. Jordan tied the game for Judson at 51 with 8:12 remaining but Trinity International went on an 11-2 run over the next three and half minutes for the nine-point lead, 62-53.

Answering back, Judson had a 9-0 run over the next two and half minutes to tie the game at 62 only to see the Trojans score the next five points for a five-point advantage, 67-62, with 2:07 left.

The first half belonged to Trinity International as they never gave up the lead. They had a six-point lead, 22-16, with 7:02 left in the half when Judson went on an 11-6 run to come within one, 28-27. Again, the Trojans scored the next four points for the five-point lead before Judson trimmed the lead to two, 32-30, at the half.

Judson shot 43% from the floor, 45% from three-point range, and 66% from the stripe while Trinity International made 45% of their shots, was only 12% from beyond the arc, and 52% from the line. The difference in the game came in turnovers as Judson had 24 to Trinity International's 14.

Judson finishes the season at 9-19 and was 3-7 in the CCAC. They lose six seniors in Tiana Forrest, Aubrey Parsons, Kristi Siemers, Crystal Goodall, Kirstin Johns, and Alicia Rovertoni.
