
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Making a strong move at the national level, the Judson University women's track team finished 10th out of 14 teams at the NCCAA National Indoor Meet scoring 26 points. Judson also had two NCCAA All-Americans in Rachael Dean and Sarah Dede.
With 26 points, Judson finished ahead of CCAC opponent Trinity Christian (14) and just behind Olivet Nazarene (35). Dean finished third in the mile run and Dede was third in the long jump for All-American status.
"I was very proud that everyone who participated in the meet today for Judson was able to score points for our team in some events," quotes head coach Joel Cotton. "We had a solid day of performances that had its highs and lows. Sarah and Rachael obviously made history by becoming NCCAA All-Americans, but as a team, it was great to see that we were able to rise to the occasion and represent Judson in a great wayat a high quality meet."
Dean ran a 5:11.37 in the mile for third place and was then fourth in the 3000 meter run (10:36.84) just missing All-American status. Dede jumped school record 17'4" in the long jump and just missed qualifying for the NAIA National Meet by three centimeters.
Also scoring points for Judson were Lauren Strohmaier in the high jump as she finished fifth at 5'1". The 4x800 meter relay team of Ana Garcia, Stephanie Belokon, Sandra Hubbard, and Morgan Kimball also finished fifth with a time of 10;45.48. The distance medley relay team then took eighth place with a time of 13:36.78 (Sandra Hubbard, Kristal Pitts, Garcia, Kimball).
Dean will next run in the NAIA National Meet in the mile and 3000 meter run before the team moves to the outdoor season.
