
ELGIN, Ill. - It was a night of joy for Judson University as it was senior night and sophomore Landon Skinner scored his 1,000th career point. Judson University (14-12/10-2) came from behind, down by as many as seven in the second half, for a 107-100 win over Trinity International University (6-22/4-7) in the final regular season game. Judson was down 61-54 with 14:10 to play when they went on a 26-9 run over the next seven minutes for a 10-point lead, 80-70. Both Josh Edwards and Jim Kuban had seven points each in the run.
Skinner, now with 1,002 points, collected his 1,000th point at the 2:44 mark that put Judson up by 11 points, 95-84. He scored his 998th point in fashion just two minutes earlier when he drove down the baseline for his first dunk of the season to make it 86-76. Skinner is one of the fastest players to score 1,000 points in Judson history and is the 26th player to score 1,000 points at Judson. The all-time leading scorer is Tom Randall with 2,381 points, which could be reachable by Skinner in the next two seasons.
On senior night, seniors Ben Rayhorn and Josh Weber ended up in double figures. Rayhorn put up his fourth double-double of the season with a career-high 24 points and 11 rebounds while Weber had 10 points. Three other players had double figures as Edwards put up 23 points, Kuban had 17 points, and Skinner adding 12 points. Trinity International's Patrick Atkins posted 32 points.
The first half featured runs by each team as both Trinity International and Judson had leads. Judson started the first seven minutes of the game with an eight point lead, 19-11. Trinity International put together a 13-4 run over two and half minutes for their first lead of the game, 24-23, at the 9:49 mark. Judson fought back with a 13-6 run in four and a half minutes to take a six-point lead, 36-30, with only 5:10 remaining in the half. Finishing the half on a 13-5 run, Trinity International posted a 43-41 lead going into the locker room.
Taking their largest lead of the game at seven points, 61-54, Trinity International looked as though they were in control of the game. In the first six minutes, they had three-seven point leads. It was at the 14:10 mark, after Trinity International's Jason Frost made a bucket for the seven-point lead, that the Judson offense kicked into gear.
Judson received a little momentum at the 13:27 mark when Trinity International's coach was given a technical foul combined on a three-point play by Edwards. Trinity International had a four-point lead, 61-57, at the 13:55 mark but then Edwards was fouled on a layup with 13:27 remaining. In the heat of the argument, the Trojans received the technical foul on the bench and Edwards converted his three-point play and two free throws for a five-point swing. Judson now had the lead, 62-61, and never gave it back. The 26-9 run by Judson broke the back of Trinity International .
Judson finished the game shooting 52% from the floor, 42% from beyond the arc, and 76% from the stripe. Trinity International shot 50% from the floor 33% from the three-point line, and 68% from the foul line. Judson out rebounded Trinity International, 38-34, but had two more turnovers, 15-13.
