ELGIN, Ill. - Trinity International (9-19, 4-6) started the second half on a 20-7 run to give them a lead of 50-43 after being down by four at the half, 34-30 en route to the 70-60 win over Judson University (9-18, 3-7). The Eagles senior Alicia Rovertoni achieved her 30th career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Leading the way for the Eagles was senior Kirstin Johns with 14 points on 5-9 shooting from floor. Rounding out the scoring for the Eagles were seniors Aubrey Parsons and Crystal Goodall with nine points each. Leading all scorers with 23 points was Trinity International Melanie Duplessis.
The first half featured three tied scores and 10 lead changes. The Eagles started out the game on a 5-2 run with senior Crystal Goodall scoring all five for Judson. The Trojans came back to tie it up and both teams went shot for shot over the next four minutes with a score of 14-14. Trinity International went on a quick five point run over the next minute to go up 19-14. Judson University during the next four minutes went on an 11-2 run to go up 23-21 with 5:27 remaining in the half. Judson finished the first half with a 34-30 lead over Trinity International.
Trinity International started the second half on a 20-7 run to give them a lead of 50-43 with 12:11 remaining the game. Judson was able to get as close as three points at the 13:27 mark down 46-43 but the Trojans fought back. Trinity Internationals biggest lead came at the five minute mark with a 15 point lead with a score of 65-50. Judson was never able to fully recover and fell to the Trojans by a final score of 70-60.
The Eagles shot 36.5% from the floor, 19% from beyond the arc, and 52.6% from the charity stripe. The Trojans shot 43.5% from the floor, 38.5% from three point land, and 57.9% from the foul line.
Judson University will travel to Deerfield, Ill to face Trinity International in the first round of the CCAC tournament on Tuesday, February 23, TBA.
