SOUTH BEND,
Ind. - Pulling to within one, 42-41, just a minute into the second half, Judson
University (9-17) did not score for the next three and a half minutes at
Indiana University-South Bend extended their lead to 15, 56-41. IU-South Bend finished the game with a
13-point win, 86-73.
Judson had
four players in double figures as Alicia Rovertoni posted 14 points and nine
rebounds. Crystal Goodall had 13 points
and was followed by Kirstin Johns and Lindsey Jordan's 10 points. IU-South Bend had six players in double
figures.
IU-South
Bend had a 21-13 lead at the 12:23 mark in the first half when Judson put
together their best run of the game.
Judson went on a 10-0 run over two and half minutes to take their only
lead of the game, 23-21. Goodall,
Rovertoni, Johns, and Kristi Siemers all scored in the run. It was Siemers' three-point shot at the 9:45
mark that gave Judson the lead. IU-South
Bend responded with an 8-0 run to retake the lead, 29-23. They extended their lead to nine, twice, before
Judson came within three at the half, 39-36.
It looked as
though the momentum was going to shift Judson's way in the second half when
they cut the lead to one, 42-41, just into the second half. The opposite happened as IU-South Bend
sparked their own momentum with a 14-0 run for a 15-point lead. Judson did fight back and come within five,
70-65, with 7:29 remaining, but the IU-South Bend offense once again started a
run. In the next six minutes, the Titans
had a 16-5 run for a 16-point lead, 86-70.
By that point there was only 1:55 remaining in the game and Judson did
not have enough left in the tank for a run to try for the win.
Judson
finished shooting 42% from the floor, 35% from the three-point line, and only
57% from the free throw line. IU-South
Bend shot 52% from the floor, 40% from beyond the arc, and 82% from the
stripe. IU-South Bend also out rebounded
Judson, 40-24. Judson, though, forced 22
IU-South Bend turnovers.
Judson will
host Trinity International in their last regular season game of the year at
3:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Lindner Fitness Center. The game will determine where Judson will be
seeded in the CCAC Tournament which could be anywhere from #3 to #6.
