
Hammond, Ind. - Judson University (11-12, 7-2) never lost the lead against Purdue Calumet (6-16, 3-6) and had a lead as large as 20 at one point in the 85-71 win. The Eagles had an 11-point lead in the fgames first six minutes of play and never looked back.
Ben Rayhorn lead all Judson players with 22 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. Landon Skinner also added 21 points and Jim Kuban chipped in with nine points and a game high 10 assists. Leading all scorers was Purdue Calumets Aaron Evans with 29 on 10-of-15 shooting.
The first half featured both teams shooting the lights out of the basketball. Judson shot 54.5% from the floor while going 5-of-11 from three-point range with a perfect 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. Purdue Calumet shot 51.7% from the floor, 2-of-5 from beyond the arc, and 4-of-6 from the free throw line.
The second half seemed to be the difference for the Eagles as they held the Peregrines to without a field goal in the first 3:36. During that run they lead by as many as 16 but not before Purdue Calumet scored their first points of the second half on a lay-up by Eric Summers. The Eagles largest lead of the game came with 6:41 left in the game, 69-49, as they led by 20 points. Purdue Calumet's Evans scored the games next five points and cut the lead to 15.
Judson finished the game leading the entire way and never let the Peregrines into it. Purdue-Calumet cut the lead to 12 points within the final two minutes, but didn't have time on their side for a comeback.
Judson will host Calumet College at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10th.
