ELGIN, Ill. - Joining the national effort to help raise funds for finding a cure for cancer, Judson University will be a part of the Coaches vs. Cancer campaign on Saturday, January 30^th. Judson will host Purdue-North Central at 5:00 p.m. in the Lindner Fitness Center and will have activities that the fans can participate in. Head men's basketball coach Tony Tompkins will be sporting his sneakers in the game vs. Purdue-North Central.

As part of the festivities for the game, all Blue Crew members that come to the game will receive $1 to give back to the Coaches vs. Cancer fund. Anybody that donates to the cancer fund at the game will receive a Livestrong wristband. Everyone that gives $5 or more will have a chance to shoot a half court shot for $100. Judson's goal is to raise $200 that night for the Coaches vs. Cancer fund.

The Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers awareness weekend, a collaborative initiative of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the American Cancer Society, is slated for the weekend of Jan. 29-31, 2010. Participating both Tompkins and Purdue-North Central coach Kristofer Schnatz will wear sneakers instead of dress shoes with their usual game attire during their game on January 30th to demonstrate their support for the American Cancer Society's fight to save lives from cancer.
