Judson 59, Calumet 56 - Box

WHITING, Ind. - Both teams tied with a halftime score of 27, Judson University (6-11/1-2) reeled off the first seven points of the second half to claim their first CCAC win of the year over Calumet College, 59-56. Kirstin Johns hit two free throws to seal the game and give Judson a five-point lead with 30 seconds left, 59-54. The win for Judson was their first CCAC win of the season and was Calumet's first CCAC loss.

John's shooting led Judson with 15 points while Alicia Rovertoni had her 28th double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Daisy Jara contributed 10 points. Judson shot 42% from the floor, 33% from three-point land, and 66% from the stripe. They out rebounded Calumet, 43-30, but had 23 turnovers.

It was the second half that was the difference for Judson as they started off with a 7-0 run to make it 34-27. Judson never lost the lead in the second half. Calumet came within one, 47-46, but Judson scored the next six points to put their lead at seven. Calumet came within five, 57-52, with 2:50 left to play in the game but then neither team made a basket for the next 2:20. Calumet's Lisa Upshaw made a shot to come within three with 35 seconds left but Johns was fouled and swooshed both shots at the line for the win.

Judson will host Trinity Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20th, in CCAC play.
